If you're looking for an affordable way to protect your garage floor, then you should consider epoxy coating. Epoxy coatings provide a tough, protective layer that can resist staining and wear and tear. They also give your garage floor a polished look that's easy to clean and maintain. If you're considering epoxy coating for your garage floor, here's a step-by-step guide to the process:

  1. Preparing the surface: The first step in epoxy coating is to prepare the surface by Diamond Grinding or Shotblasting thoroughly. The diamonds exposed in the tooling grind away the cream layer, remove loose concrete and leave a uniform scratch pattern with open pores which coatings can adhere to.
  2. Crack/Concrete Repair: Concrete cracks are repaired using different techniques and methods, such as epoxy injection depending on how wide, long, and/or deep the crack is. Most of the concrete cracks are related to shrinkage, heat, wrong joint placements, over stress and loading conditions and movements caused by external factors. Some of these repairs are completed by using epoxy injections applied directly to the crack. The procedure is different and varies depending on the crack location and whether the concrete cracks are horizontal or vertical. Some cracks might require additional steps
  3. Vapor Barrier Epoxy: After the surface has been fully prepped and repaired we lay down a vapor barrier to your floor. These vapor barriers will prevent moisture transmission in new or old floors, which can reduce or eliminate the risk of future mold or moisture problems.
  4. Applying High Solids Polyaspartic Topcoat: Once the primer coat is applied and is drying, we prepare the base coat using the same steps as the primer. After the base coat is applied, we broadcast a heavy coating of chips over the wet surface. After one hour, scrape the excess chips using a light motion and clean with a shop-vac.
  5. Finishing up: Once the topcoat has dried, you can walk on your garage floor and park your car on it. However, waiting at least 24-48 hours before driving on the floor is important, as the epoxy needs time to cure properly. After that, you can enjoy your durable and easy-to-clean garage floor for years.
